YellowDesignFoundation (YDF), located 19 Avenue des Volontaires 1160 Brussels, has succeeded to the Belgian Institute for the Development of Industrial Design (°1963) since 2004.

YDF positions itself as an independent, multidisciplinary and interregional platform for information and research on design as an economic social and cultural asset. YDF focuses its activities on the impact of design on the well-being of citizens, private and public organisations, referring to design in a human, urban, innovating and sustainable context.

First research of YDF : The influence of design in urban public transport
As a European platform for information and research on design and the impact of design on day to day life, YellowDesignFoundation develops and coordinates research projects in several countries in Europe. The findings of the first European research program include an innovating and strong concept and no less than 115 practical recommendations in terms of building and/or renovation of intermodal * urban public transport stations. Thanks to these findings, operators and authorities in urban public transport, infrastructure engineers, architects, urban planners, designers and real estate developers can now build and renovate stations and station environments truly taking care of emotional and subjective expectations of travellers in the field of perceived security and quality of the journey.
